When you enter Anastasia Korbitz’s Confectionique, a French-inspired vintage craft market, be prepared to hear her friendly “Bonjour,” and when you exit, you’ll feel as if you just strolled the Parisian street and flea markets. Confectionique is like a romantic French treasure chest that can only be experienced by heading to the Middleton Airport. But you won’t have to hop on a plane to experience the Parisian atmosphere, Anastasia brings Paris to you! Confectionique’s market is open during select times throughout the year, allowing the store to be re-staged with new finds from Paris before each re-opening. Their next market, Merry Miracles, is open December 6-December 9, so make this a must-stop on your holiday shopping list and tell them Stacy Elaine from Madison 52 sent you. Merci!
What products and services do you offer? For almost nine years, Confectionique has created eight unique French-themed markets each year. We travel to France to shop brocantes (flea markets), import goods and offer tour groups. We bring a little joie de vivre to Middleton!
What made you want to be a business owner, specifically in your area of expertise? Although both of us have had college-based careers, we have always loved our time in France meeting others and experiencing the culture and Anastasia has always had a passion for creativity. Pairing these two ideas seemed like a natural fit!
What is your favorite thing about being a business owner in Madison? The customers! Always gracious, kind and supportive, the customers are what make our business thrive.
What is lesser known about your business that you wish more people knew? How to find us! Apparently, the GPS can’t always figure it out. We are located inside the Morey Middleton Airport.
What is your favorite aspect of your business so far? We so enjoy creating each market experience based on inspiration from our adventures in Paris and greater France.
What is your favorite item you offer? We love to offer unique French goods which include: ephemera, bath goods, foods and buttons and fabrics along with delightful handmade treasures.

How did you end up in Madison? Anastasia was born in Utah, grew up in California, raised children in Wausau and attended graduate school at UW Madison. “I am honored to have worked as a clinical social worker for UW Hospital and Clinics until I retired,” Anastasia says. “I am happy to have called Madison my home for the last 25 years.” Adam was born in Iowa to a medical resident intern in primary medicine and a school librarian. He moved with his family to Monona. The couple lives in Adam’s childhood home.
Tell me why you love Madison. Anastasia loves Madison for it’s big, little city feel. Madison offers big city experiences with a sense of small-town community. Adam loves the vibrant and dynamic culture Madison has to offer.
What book are you currently reading? Anastasia: I don’t read much, I am too busy crafting! Adam: enjoys reading about current events and science.
What’s your favorite area festival? We both enjoy anything music-related. Anastasia loves to dance and play the drums. Adam enjoys anything related to good brews and opportunities to practice his French.
Please note: Confectionique is Anastasia’s business. Thankfully, her husband, Adam, supports her efforts as much as he can given his limited vision. So, although not a “formal partner” he is a partner in life! Anastasia also has the support of several wonderful girlfriends who make handmade goods for each market.
